I. ORGANIZING THE PROCESS OF TEACHIHG UKRAINIAN TO FOREIGN AUDIENCE
The article deals with study of the lingual-didactic possibilities of the introductory commentary when studying Ukrainian by Slavonic students. On one hand such a commentary must include the information on the basic (phonetic, grammatical, lexical, and graphical) peculiarities of the Ukrainian language in general and on the other hand it must emphasize with the use of the students’ knowledge the common and distinctive features of the Ukrainian language and other Slavonic and non-Slavonic languages students know.

One of the main challenges in learning a foreign language in general and the Ukrainian language in particular is the awareness of ethnic stereotypes of the people, their language and cultural traditions. Development of successful linguistic competence is possible thanks to language skills in different social situations, in accordance with the customs and traditions, accepted in every society.

The article deals with some aspects of teaching Ukrainian language as a foreign to West European students. The observations and conclusions are based on our own experience. Answers to important and relevant issues arising in the process of learning, described the problems and difficulties encountered by the teacher and student, suggesting new ideas and ways of their implementation.

The article describes fundamental criteria to check levels of Ukrainian as a foreign language in all spheres of communication (speaking, reading, oral, and writing). The experience of using these criteria for checking language abilities of foreign students has been generalized

This article reviews some textbooks teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language, regarding the teaching materials and the connection to culture and tradition made through the text, dialogs, and exercises. The reviwed textbooks don’t live up to current standards for teaching materials in that they show a lack of cultural sensitivity and understanding. Intercultural competence needs to be a requirement for editors of textbooks for Ukrainian as a foreign language.

The author of the article considers conceptual basis of the development of integral manual on Ukrainian as foreign language, determining its functions, components, parameters and structure.

The author of the article concerns the main principles, laid into the base of organization of teaching process of Ukrainian as a foreign language and problematic situations which teachers should take into account. The systematization of the main principles and approaches of teaching and learning language as a foreign one is made on the basis of the analysis of language education literature and ways of its optimization are proposed.

The article is dedicated to the actual problems of using videomaterials at the lessons of Ukrainian as foreign language. The topic of the article is the organization of educational process taking into account didactic peculiarities of videomaterials and their influence on the formation of communicative skills of foreign students.

The article presents the e-platform ‘EuroLang 2012’ which can inspire football fans’ interest in Ukrainian and Polish language and culture before the Euro-2012 Football Championship. The author analyzes the main components of the e-platform and the structure of the Ukrainian and Polish language courses, their principles and content. The EuroLang2012 portal is a good source for the initial learning of these languages and cultures as well as it helps to destroy some stereotypes existing among the residents of other countries in the EU.

II. SECTION LINGUISTIC AND COUNTRY STUDIES AND PROBLEMS OF INTER-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN UKRAINIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES
In the article a great attention is paid to the problem of the social and cultural component’s content by elements of intercultural approach to teaching. The author pays attention to the correct representation of national social and cultural stereotypes of language communication. Some questions connected with the content of linguistical and culturological work with aim to present the analysis of definite materials at lessons are considered in the article.

In the article some aspects of using toponymic material in the process of learning Ukrainian as the foreign language are studied. Linguistic and country study potential, which is included in those nominations helps improving the knowledge of a foreign student adout history, culture and national traditions of Ukrainian.

The names of birds are been analyzed in the article in such aspects – the etymology of these names, ability to form diminutives, the potential to creating personal names and toponyms, etc. The author described birds’ nominations in nursery rhymes, idioms, comparisons, collations, riddles. The birds’ nominations are been presented in the different genres of folklore and literature.

Halyna Tymoshyk. Linguistic and area studies dictionary of proper names in the system of teaching the Ukrainian language to a foreign audience (on the material of names festivals, fairs, holiday/ celebration).
Systematization and research of heorthonyms and panegironyms in the light of lexicographic treatment belong to the sphere of permanently important tasks of linguodidactics. These propriathems realities represent a separate fragment of the language reality which reveals a special mentality and understanding of the world by a separate ethnos.

The author of the article analyses the functioning of one of the speech genres – request – in Ukrainian folk fairy tales. She describes typical models of request, the peculiarities of its lexical filling and its syntax. The article concerns the methods to affect the receiver of request. The article contains comparative description of request in both folk and modern speech.

The article is devoted to revealing of the linguistic and cultural connotations of the lexeme ÷îðò, fixed in the interior form of the Ukrainian idioms, proverbs and sayings. On the basis of the analysis of more than 340 staunch expressions with the component ÷îðò there were found such connotative meanings of the demonomen, as hairiness, short tail, feral (mainly doggish) snout with teeth and long tongue, goggle eyes, malinciousness and slyness, which often are not so potent than human, intentive capacity, mortality ect.

III. SECTION THE METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING THE PHONETICS, LEXICA AND ORTHOGRAPHY OF UKRAINIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The article deals with the description of the systems of vowels of the Ukrainian and the French languages. The author compares the two systems pointing out to the differences, which make the learning of the articulation of the vocalic sounds in the two languages difficult.

The author of the article analyses preconditions and basic stages of the development of methods of teaching English as a foreign language (UFL). The establishment of the term unit of methods of teaching UFL is described according to its periodization, of basic are shortly distinguished.

The article considers the advantages and drawbacks of adapted and non-adapted texts at lessons with foreign students, focuses on the choice of lexical material and gives an example of a lesson for work in foreign language classroom.

In this report we are researching the general features of onomastic area and specialities of using own names in the Franko′s works. Toponimic material, gathered in the creation of I. Franko, objective reproduced the modernity of writer and brings a much in the study Ukrainian toponimic in the general and beside on the area, described by writer.

In the given study we analyzed possibilities of using the phraseological units, with animalistic component in the process of studying language as a foreign one. Attention was paid to the ways of introducing this phraseology into linguodidactic process, the types of tasks were suggested. Basing on the questionary study results there was distinguished the layer of the most used Ukrainian phraseology with animalistic component, that is worth to be included into textbooks of Ukrainian as a foreign language.

The article deals with the basic approaches, methods and ways of formation of linguistic competence by means of phraseology in the process of studying the Ukrainian as a foreign language. Attention is paid to multilevel ethnocultural information encoded in phraseological units, and the need to phase attraction of such information in the process of language learning.

The article briefly describes some encyclopedias (general and special), which can be used as source material for practical course „Ukrainian as foreign language”. The attention is emphasized on some peculiarities of these dictionaries and the forms of their exposition are determined in learning process.

IV. SECTION THE METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING THE GRAMMAR AND STYLISTICS OF
UKRAINIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
THE ROLE OF WRITTEN TEXTS IN LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The article deals with the methodological treatments of a famous Ukrainian didactic scientist Myhailo Shkilnyk which he suggested for learning grammatical concepts of the noun. The main attention is given to the usage of lingual didactic ways for understanding the gender category of the noun, which he recommended to use at the lessons with the Ukrainian pupils and with foreigners.

In this article are investigated the difficulties of learning case’s category in grammatical system of Ukrainian language as a foreign. Here is defined position, function of Genitive case in case’s paradigm, and systematized noun’s endings in this case.

The article deals with the syntactical differences between Ukrainian and Polish languages that causes the interference of non-normative constructions emerge in Ukrainian speech of Ukrainian language students from Poland or restrains the extent of some syntactical structures usage. The problems of regimen and conguerence in indefinite-personal sentences, in constructions with the passive voice, participles, structures for conditional mood and word-order in sentence have been studied in this article.

Article deals with the songs as teaching material in the foreign audience. Author concentrate attention on positive and and negative aspects of songs usage. Describes criteria of using songs during the lessons of Ukrainian as a foreign language.

V. SECTION THE FORMATION OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN THE PROCESS OF STUDYNG UKRAINIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
In Byram’s model of intercultural communicative competency (1997) he promotes the “ability to interpret a document or event from another culture, to explain it and relate it to documents from one’s own”. This skill is based on existing knowledge and enables one to identify ethnocentric perspectives in a document or event and explain their origins, to identify areas of misunderstanding and dysfunction in an interaction and explain them in the cultural systems of each, and to mediate between conflicting interpretations of phenomena”. This paper is designed to help two groups of educators – early literacy teachers and resource developers in Ukraine and in its Western diaspora - grow closer in understanding of one another.

The article describes the features of the formation writing skills with foreign students, in particular the writing of essays. The article traces the major methodological aspects of planning and organization process of writing essays, the typology of preparatory exercises, ways of testing and evaluation.

Some methodological aspects of development dialogue communication in foreign language have been considered. Specific features both dialogue and monologue teaching have been discovered. Some approaches to selection and organization teaching material on the basis of communicative methodology have been suggested. Types of exercises enabling skills of students’ dialogue communication have been given.

This article concerns the problem of listening as an active kind of vocal activity in studying Ukrainian language as a foreign in technical universities. Listening for students who are not philologists, need to be considered as an additional subject, which is available to help foreign students with getting skills in their own speciality. In the article we considered problem factors, which are the reasons of caused difficulties while listening and the way of avoiding these difficulties, striving to reach the best result.

The article is focused on translation as a form of teaching closely related languages. The didactic potential of translation in the context of communicative approach to language teaching is discussed, as well as the methodological foundations and conditions of using training translation are characterized.

The text examines the main language features that are taken for Ukrainian speech urging the recipient to action with regard to social and communicative characteristics of speaker and his interlocutor, and the situation of the conversation

The given article is dedicated to the appellation means in the Ukrainian and the Polish languages in the synchronistic and diachronic aspects. Comparative characteristics of the pronouns that denote the addressee show common and distinct features in the appellation system of the two languages. The investigation will be useful for the participants of the intercultural communication and the study of either language as a foreign one.
